We did it: 125 loaves for 125 years

You may remember that Chaplain Pastor Obi Iheoma set out on an ambitious (and delicious) mission; to bake 125 loaves of bread, one for every year of the university’s remarkable history. Today, we’re excited to share that the goal has been reached!

Over the past weeks, the kitchen of the Multi-Faith Chaplaincy has been filled with the warm, welcoming scent of freshly baked bread and the spirit of our university community. Staff, students, and volunteers came together, rolling up their sleeves and getting their hands floury to help Pastor Obi turn this vision into reality.

All 125 loaves will be donated to Let’s Feed Brum, a Birmingham-based charity supporting people facing homelessness and food insecurity.

From all of us, thank you. To everyone who kneaded, baked, laughed, and shared—your time and effort have made a real difference.

And as Pastor Obi noted, “This is about more than bread. It’s about community, care, and connection”.
