Do You Know It's Christmas on Campus?

On Wednesday 1 December, UoB launched its much-awaited Countdown to Christmas campaign with a Christmas tree ‘lights switch on’ led by Santa and two student ambassadors, and an impressive tree projection on Old Joe. The countdown to this event was joined by over a hundred students and staff who came together to celebrate the beginning of the festive season. 

The launch day was jam-packed with exciting events; musical performances at lunchtime, the chance to meet Santa (and his elves and reindeer!), tasty food from Digbeth Dining Club and the traditional University carol concert in the evening.  

If you missed out, don’t worry as the campaign is just getting started, with many exciting events taking place every day this week. From our inflatable snow globe where you can take seasonal selfies, to our festive ferris wheel arriving on campus today (Monday 6th)! The giant ferris wheel is completely free and will be situated on the Green Heart all week for staff and students to enjoy from 12:00noon to 18:00. We are expecting it to be popular so come early to avoid the queues. But remember if it's busy don't stand in the cold, come back another time as it's here until Friday 10 December.

Come and unwind with our Festive Yoga session this Tuesday where you can take in the beautiful views of campus from the top floor of Main Library and watch the sun set over the twinkly lights. 

For those that prefer something more energetic, then on Wednesday you can try out the Christmas 90’s Dance Party Zumba class taking place at the Sports & Fitness Centre. 

Grab your favourite Christmas jumper as we join with others across the nation on Friday to celebrate 'Christmas Jumper day' and help support Save the Children charity.
