Bin collection issues: What to do with your rubbish?
We are aware of the increasing issues surrounding waste management in the local area.
To try and address the issue we have found the latest advice regarding the current situation.
Rubbish bins
For household waste, the message remains to put out the bin and leave it until emptied, this may not be on your usual day.
Side waste can be put out in black bags alongside but does need to be normal weekly waste and can contain items such as paper and tins.
Recycling
If possible, it is recommended that you book a slot at the local tip to take recyclable waste such as cardboard. We do know that not all students have access to a car so driving to the tip may not be possible.
Recycling can be added to general waste if it is fully cleaned and stored in black bin bags alongside the bins e.g. clean tin cans. It would also be beneficial to make this waste as compact as possible, so crushing drinks cans or folding down pizza boxes as small as possible.
For more information and advice we recommend heading to the council website for updates. You can also check out their FAQs which may cover other questions that you have.
