Watch Chancellor Sandie Okoro OBE's Installation ceremony

Join us in celebrating the installation of UoB’s new Chancellor Sandie Okoro OBE. 

Taking place on Tuesday 19 November 2024 from 16:30-17:30, you can watch the ceremony via YouTube livestream. Held in our Elgar Concert Hall, the ceremony will feature music by Birmingham Symphonic Brass and Birmingham University singers. Join the livestream.

A proud Birmingham alumna having graduated with a degree in Law and Politics, Sandie Okoro OBE is the first woman to hold the position of Chancellor, bringing a number of remarkable accolades to the role. 

Having made significant contribution to diversity, equality, and female rights, she is currently Group General Counsel of Standard Chartered where she leads the Bank’s Legal, Group Corporate Secretariat and Shared Investigative Services functions.   

The Chancellor is the ceremonial head of the University, presiding at degree ceremonies and inspiring and celebrating students on their graduation day. They also work to engage with community and stakeholders to raise the University’s profile and promote its reputation worldwide.
