Wi-Fi certificate renewal is happening this week

What is a Wi-Fi certificate renewal and why should I know about it?

We will issue a new certificate for our wireless network on Thursday 14 November. This is a regular process that we do every year. As part of this renewal, the first time you access the Wi-Fi on your device from 14 November onwards you may be prompted to accept the new certificate.

Your device checks this certificate when you connect to the UoB Wi-Fi to make sure it's connecting to the real network.

Your device may update it automatically, but if you get the prompt you will need to accept the new certificate to be able to use UoB Wi-Fi on your device. This won’t change any settings or details on your device, and is part of the normal process when we update the certificate.

What will you see?

You will see this prompt on mobile devices. You may also see the prompt on University Windows devices.

What should you do?

Just accept the prompt by clicking “OK". You will only need to do this once per device. If you don't see the prompt, you don't need to do anything.

If you encounter any issues, please contact the IT Service Desk.
