Bag a bargain and support a good cause

Looking for a great deal while making a difference? We have you covered with a brand new charity shop coming to campus.

The University of Birmingham is pleased to host a British Heart Foundation (BHF) charity pop-up shop in the University Centre (opposite Spar) from Monday 3 November to Friday 12 December 2025.

Open Monday to Friday, 11:00–16:00, the pop-up will be packed with clothes, books, shoes, and other donated treasures. So perfect for refreshing your wardrobe or picking up a budget-friendly gift before the holidays.

Please note: this pop-up is for sales only, so it won’t be accepting donations on site.

This event is a collaboration between Food, Beverage and Retail and the British Heart Foundation, continuing the University’s strong partnership with the charity. The BHF also supports the Guild of Students and UoB's Junkbusters scheme, a joint initiative in Selly Oak that encourages students to donate unwanted items at the end of term rather than sending them to landfill. These items are then resold through BHF shops, reducing waste and raising funds for medical research.

BHF donated half a million pounds to research in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy at University of Birmingham in 2024! Read more about the ground breaking research.

So why not shop sustainably, save some money, and support heart research all at once? Pop by the BHF shop before 12 December and grab yourself a feel-good bargain!

Spare time for volunteering?

The BHF is looking for enthusiastic student volunteers to help out in this the shop. As a volunteer, you'll welcome customers, help them find the items they're looking for and answer any questions they have. This is a great way to gain experience, build new skills and make a real difference, plus there are plenty of benefits available. Interested? Apply now by contacting my BHF vounteer team.
