Recognise an incredible member of staff in the Outstanding Teaching Awards

Do you know a truly inspiring teacher who despite this challenging year, has brought a subject to life? This is your chance to tell them how much their teaching has made a difference to you and your academic experience.

The Outstanding Teaching Awards is a joint initiative between the University and the Guild of Students to award five members of teaching staff – one from each of the Colleges.

We want to hear about people who will have risen to the ongoing challenges, continuing to encourage and facilitate active learning using a range of formats and provided teaching that is stimulating, enthusiastic, and innovative. They should also have expertise in their field and be committed to sharing their knowledge.

Find out more and nominate your outstanding teacher by 5pm on Friday 26 March 2021.

When you submit a nomination you will be entered into a University-wide prize draw to win an iPad. There will also be ten lucky winners of a £20 Apple or Love2Shop voucher from this prize draw.

Jules Singh, Education Officer at the Guild of Students, said: “The Outstanding Teaching Awards is the perfect opportunity to recognize incredible staff, thank them for all of their hard work and going the extra mile through these difficult times. If you have been fortunate enough to have an amazing teacher, lecturer, seminar leader, or supervisor; be sure to nominate them for an award!”

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sir David Eastwood, said: “The University has a strong commitment to enhancing teaching and learning; to support this we are rewarding those that enhance the experience of student learning through excellence in teaching. The Outstanding Teaching Awards celebrate talented teachers that demonstrate best practice and foster the learning and development of our students.”

The Awards will be presented online in July 2021.
