Industrial Action Update: Information for all students

Notice of Conclusion of Industrial Action

As you may be aware, the Universities and College Union (UCU) that represents some academic and academic-related staff, has been engaged in a period of industrial action that has included recent strike days and ongoing action short of a strike (ASOS). That mandate expired on 03 May 2022 and so the period of industrial action affecting the University of Birmingham has now concluded.

You may have heard news that, at some other Universities, a further ten days of strike action and plans for further action short of a strike (including an assessment and marking boycott) have been announced.  This does not affect the University of Birmingham.
