Making it Happen: Summer Semester Safety and Security Update

How we’re continuing to keep our community safe on campus

Since the start of the academic year, our Security Services have been continuing to work with the Guild of Students and many different stakeholders across the university and the city, including West Midlands Police, to provide a safe learning experience.

You may remember that back in December we shared this infographic on some of the ways we had made a difference in Semester 1. This included a significant investment in upgrading lighting and CCTV around the campus to handing out free safety equipment.

Since then, we have continued to improve safety on campus and in the community. From more police presence to new and improved CCTV monitoring, check out the below infographic to get a flavour of some of the key University and Guild initiatives from Semester 2:

Campus and community safety

We’re also pleased to share that the Guild's free self-defence classes received 100% positive feedback from students. Keep an eye out on the Guild of Students website for more classes in the new academic year. Stay tuned for more updates on the safety and security initiatives that are being worked on throughout the year to make your UoB experience the best it can be.

In the meantime, if you have any safety concerns or wish to discuss any ideas for improving student safety, on or off campus, don’t hesitate to contact us at UBSafe@contact.bham.ac.uk.
