International students update - 02.03.2021

As this uniquely challenging academic year continues, and following our recent announcements for all students, we wanted to remind you about some key information for our international student community – wherever you are in the world.

In the UK there are plans to allow more students to return to University campuses through March and April but we appreciate that there are still significant travel restrictions in place that will affect our international students.

We are committed to extending our current bimodal format of learning and teaching for the remainder of this academic year – and we have previously confirmed that for most international students you will be able to complete this academic year studying online*.

*Note: there are some accredited programmes that may require you to be present on campus at some point during the academic year, and your School will be in contact with you if that is the case.

What this means is that you do not have to travel to the UK while travel restrictions are in effect, or, where possible you should delay your travel plans.

We have updated our guidance for all International Students (including EU Citizens) with the latest travel advice from the UK Government.  You can find our updated advice here.

The University is not able to support students with the costs of travel – but we are committed to supporting all students who are experiencing any financial hardship through our Student Support Fund.  The Student Support Fund is open to all students (including all international students) so if you are struggling with your living costs we would encourage you to apply.

We are continuing to offer a reimbursement of the cost of the UK Government Test To Release Scheme – which means that students who do travel to the UK can end their period of self-isolation early in order to engage with their studies and access on-campus facilities.

Through these ongoing challenges that have affected every part of our world and all of our daily lives we are continuing to support all of our students to be successful wherever you are.

We hope that you are all safe and well.
