Introducing China Link

A new service for Undergraduate and Postgraduate taught students in mainland China

Are you a University of Birmingham student registered at Edgbaston but currently studying remotely from mainland China?

If so, our new China Link service will provide reliable and consistent access to the University of Birmingham resources that will help support your teaching and learning activities during the current Covid-19 restrictions.

How does it work?

China Link creates a secure connection between your computer and University of Birmingham, via Shanghai, that provides more reliable access to learning resources and materials. This will help ensure that you have the same high-quality learning experience as your fellow University of Birmingham students who are working away from campus.

How do I access China Link?

To use the new China Link service, all you need to do is download and install a piece of software on your computer called FortiClient. You then sign in with your University of Birmingham username and password.

You can find more information and instructions on how to download and install the service on our China Link intranet page.

China Link should only be used when you are in mainland China and must only be used to support your teaching and learning activities at the University.

What University of Birmingham resources will be available through China Link?

From the start you will have secure access to Canvas, Panopto, IT Service Portal and Findit@bham.

Access to further learning resources and materials will be available soon. You can find a full list of what resources will be available on our China Link intranet page.
