End of SELT Survey Message

Nearly 10,000 students completed the semester one Student Evaluation of Learning and Teaching (SELT) survey, which closed on 29 November. Thank you to all the students that completed the survey. This was a great result and represents over 25% of undergraduates and nearly 29% of postgraduate taught students. The feedback you provide in surveys helps us to understand your experience of learning and teaching so that we can make improvements.

Initial results for all UG and PGT programmes

Despite the ongoing challenging circumstances of the pandemic, it was encouraging to see that a majority of students are more positive about the following issues when compared with the last academic session:

  • assessment support around understanding marking criteria
  • feeling part of a community of staff and students
  • clarity of communications

We will continue to work on further enhancement of these areas but are pleased that the changes we have made this year are already starting to impact on student experience. Together, with your help, we’re making it happen.

The University is also working to address lower levels of satisfaction regarding:

  • timetabling
  • workload
  • motivation to engage with online learning resources

Next steps

Your feedback and opinions are taken very seriously by the University, and we work closely with your student reps to clearly respond to survey results and take relevant action where appropriate. The SELT results have been shared with your programme teams, and you can expect to receive a summary of the feedback and a response from your School shortly.
