Green Heart Marquee to be closed on Friday (18 February 2022)

Check out our other study spaces on campus

The ‘Study on the Green’ space will be temporarily closed due to the severe weather warnings in place for the coming storm.

With the weather forecast indicating strong winds on Friday, for safety reasons we will be closing the Green Heart marquee and the marquee next to Old Joe.

Yellow and amber warnings for wind have been issued by the Met Office for ‘Storm Eunice’, which is going to impact much of the UK on Friday.

As we are expecting high winds of over 60 mph, please take extra care when travelling.

Alternative Study Spaces

Although the Green Heart Marquee will be closed on Friday, we have lots of new and improved study spaces on campus for you to hit the books:

  • JG Smith building: Situated behind Muirhead Tower, this new space is open to all students. It features 180 spaces with power points across two floors for you to get some work done in peace and quiet. This space is open from 8am-8pm - just remember to bring your ID card to access it in the evenings.
  • Nooks: Scattered all over campus, you may have spotted our study ‘Nooks’. These pods are private spaces to study in comfort, alone or in groups.
  • Barnes Library: this newly refurbished space on the second floor of the Barnes Library is based in the Medical School (but available for all students). The study space now includes additional desks with power points, booths and informal seating areas for you to work and relax in.
  • Guild of Students: Over at the Guild, the lovely team there have created a fantastic new quiet area where you can get on with assignments and projects whenever is convenient for you. From comfy sofas to desks with built-in sockets and PCs which are freely available to use, this is the perfect space to get your head down and focus.
