Global EngagementFrom November 2021, Directors of Global Engagement in collaboration with Birmingham Global are delighted to invite you to a new monthly webinar series aimed at further supporting our colleagues to understand the University’s Global Engagements and deliver on their international aims.

Join us for conversations lead by a Directors of Global Engagement, Birmingham Global and External Relations colleagues to help enable international strategies that support the University of Birmingham to thrive abroad and at home. Colleagues from across the organisation including academics and Professional Services, alongside senior leaders all have a role to play, we encourage colleagues from across the organisation to tune in or watch together.

Registrations are required for each webinar, with a link to each session being sent to you one week in advance. Each webinar will last maximum an hour, with guest speakers for the first half and time for questions. Registrants will be able to access previous webinar recording links from this page post-event.

Webinar 1: Global Connections

This webinar explains the main initiatives at UoB to support international mobility for Academic and Professional Services staff, including the Birmingham International Engagement Fund. It covers support for our staff to travel overseas and funding for international colleagues to spend time with us in Birmingham.

As we emerge from the pandemic, there has never been a better time to take forward opportunities to collaborate with, and learn from, international colleagues in relation to our research and teaching.  This webinar explains the main initiatives at UoB to support international mobility for academic and professional services staff. This includes support for our staff to travel overseas and funding for international colleagues to spend time with us in Birmingham.

The Global Connections webinar includes information about the following initiatives:

  • Birmingham International Engagement Fund
  • Erasmus+ Staff Mobility Scheme
  • Visiting Fellow Awards
  • The Fulbright Awards

It also covers the forthcoming Commonwealth Fellowships in celebration and support of our role as Official Partner of the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham 2022 and Queen’s Baton Relay. It is relevant both for those who are new to these opportunities and those who have some knowledge but want to understand the current criteria and application process.

The session is one of series being organised by Birmingham Global and academic Global Engagement leads to introduce current global initiatives.

The event will be hosted by Professor Aleksandra Cavoski, Director of Global Engagement for CAL, and Andréa Edwards, Director of International Development and Mobility, Birmingham Global.
