Wellbeing Friday - 2 January

Happy New Year! We hope you had a wonderful Christmas break. The University has reopened, and you can find further information on campus opening hours here. For all your assessment preparation needs, check out our UoBe Ready pages. You’ve got this!

In this first Wellbeing round-up of 2026:

  • Temporary exam adjustments
  • Semester 1 Extenuating Circumstances
  • Reasonable Adjustment Plan deadline for the May exam period

Temporary exam adjustments

If you have a temporary injury or illness (e.g. a broken bone or sprain) affecting January assessments, you may be eligible for temporary exam adjustments, subject to medical evidence. Please complete the College Temporary Adjustments Request Form

Due to short notice, adjustments may not be possible; in this case, please consider submitting an extenuating circumstances request.

Semester 1 Extenuating Circumstances

We hope that your assessments and exam preparation has been going well so far. If unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances beyond your control have significantly affected your studies or exam performance, please ensure you submit an Extenuating Circumstances (EC) application by Wednesday 21 January 2026 at 5pm.

Further information on extenuating circumstances process can be found here: Extenuating Circumstances procedures. You can also refer to the Student Guidance for Extenuating Circumstances. You can find the EC form for your School on our Academic Support page

Reasonable Adjustment Plan deadline for the May exam period

Please note that if you have a disability or long-term condition and you have not yet applied for a RAP, the deadline for applications (including evidence) for reasonable adjustments for the May exam period is Friday 23 January 2026. The Student Disability Service will continue to process applications received after this date, but it's not guaranteed that you'll receive your adjustments in time for May assessments.

To apply for a RAP you need to make an application with the Student Disability Service, and provide appropriate evidence for your disability.
