Wellbeing Wednesday - 28 January 2026

From 2-8 February 2026 we’re raising our voices in support of Sexual Abuse and Sexual Violence Awareness Week, sharing what support is available, encouraging important conversations, and standing with those affected.

We’ll cover:

  • Consent
  • Report and Support
  • External support services
  • Supporting a survivor

Consent

Consent is essential for any sexual activity, it’s important to talk. Open conversations build confidence and lead to better experiences. The first step to a healthy sexual interaction is making sure your partner is freely and enthusiastically participating.

Check out this helpful video for tips on understanding and practicing consent: Consent, it’s as simple as tea.

Report + Support

If you or someone you know has experienced sexual violence or harassment, we’re here for you and support is available. You can contact a trained responder via the Report + Support tool for tailored advice and access a safe space to explore your options at your own pace.

Support beyond UoB

If you’ve experienced sexual violence, there is also a range of external support you can access:

Supporting a survivor

Supporting someone who has experienced sexual violence or abuse can be hard but we’re here to support you. You might be worried about saying or doing ‘the wrong thing’, but by being there and listening to them you're already helping. Here are some other things to help.
