Are you a Birmingham Scholar, an international student, or from a racially or ethnically diverse background? Meet your College Wellbeing Team and explore the support available to help you succeed at Birmingham.

Academic Skills Centre
Your Academic Skills Centre is your one-stop-shop for help in writing, maths, stats, digital, and research skills. Get all the info.
Research Skills Centre
Are you a postgraduate research student? The Research Skills Centre can support you with tailored help in literature searching, referencing, and data management. Book one-to-one appointments or join virtual drop-ins. Access support for researchers.

The Birmingham International Academy’s (BIA) Academic English programme is here to help you develop your language skills, free to all international students. Discover what’s on offer.
Extensions and Extenuating Circumstances
If something unexpected impacts your studies, you may be eligible for a coursework extension or to submit an Extenuating Circumstances (EC) request. Please submit any extension requests before your coursework deadline.
ECs let you declare unforeseen issues that have affected your ability to study or complete assessments. If you have a Reasonable Adjustment Plan (RAP) with an adjustment for extensions, ECs are not automatically applied and you’ll still need submit a request.
