This week, we’re highlighting a few important initiatives to help you reflect, recharge, and give back:
- Learn about healthy relationships
- National Growing for Wellbeing Week
- Carer’s Week
- Donate and make a difference
Learn about healthy relationships
Women's Aid have organised two Reach Respect sessions taking place on Thursday 11 June. Explore healthy relationships, recognising signs of domestic abuse, and how to be an active bystander. Book your free place:
Thursday 11 June 2026 10am
Thursday 11 June 2026 2pm
If you’ve been impacted by inappropriate behaviour, you can speak to our specially trained, friendly responder team at Report + Support.
National Growing for Wellbeing Week
This week is National Growing for Wellbeing Week (2-8 June), celebrating the benefits of plants, nature, and community. Go green by growing seeds, caring for houseplants, or visiting local parks and gardens. Why not explore Winterbourne House and Garden for inspiration? University of Birmingham staff and students get free admission with a valid ID card.
Carer’s Week
Carers Week 2026 takes place next week from 8-14 June, raising awareness of unpaid carers and the challenges they face. This year’s theme, “Building carer friendly communities”, highlights the importance of supportive communities.
We know that caring responsibilities can have a significant impact on your university experience and engaging with your studies. If you’re a student carer, check out the support available here.
Donate and make a difference
Getting ready to leave your student accommodation? Donate unwanted clothes, books, household items, and electronics to Junkbusters. All items help raise money for British Heart Foundation and Birmingham Hospice; find out the next collection date near you.
If you’ve got leftover long-life food products (such as cereal, tinned food, or pasta), donate it to the Community Pantry at drop off points across campus.
