Your feedback makes a difference

Over the next few weeks, eligible students will receive email invitations to take part in one of four surveys:

  • National Student Survey (final year undergraduates)
  • UK Engagement Survey (undergraduates)
  • Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (taught postgraduate students - Masters)
  • Postgraduate Research Experience Survey (research students – PhD)

You will be invited to share your honest feedback on your course and university experience completely anonymously.

We listen to all of your feedback and action your ideas, suggestions, and comments as much as we can. This means making developments from year to year small or big, to continually better improve our overall student experience. Read what changes we've recently implemented and continue to improve on, so you can have the best student experience at UoB.

Assessment & Feedback

You said you would like more assessment support before you submit your assignments, so we have introduced extra support in this key area of University life.

An Assessment Support Week in Week 6 has been introduced in many schools, with programmes offering dedicated time for you to prepare for exams and other assessments. Alongside this we have provided additional opportunities for feedback ahead of your final assessments, so that you can receive guidance prior to deadlines and added in Personal Tutorials.

More information can be found on changes in this area and additional support available via our UoBe Ready campaign.

Financial Support

You said you'd like to receive further financial support from us during the Cost of Living crisis, so in response to your feedback, we've implemented National Express offers at key points of the year.

Changes have been made to make savings for food and drink, by introducing free utilities on campus where you can fill up your water bottle, access kitchens and microwaves, giving you the flexibility to bring your own food and drink onto campus. But if you do decide to buy on campus, you will be rewarded for your purchases through the food fellows app and there are cheaper meal deal options available too.

Finally we have the Student Support Fund which can award up to £2,000 to any student (undergraduate or postgraduate) who is struggling to meet their basic living costs.

Wellbeing Support

Supporting your mental health and wellbeing is important to us. Changes we have made to prioritise this include offering short-term solution focused counselling to help you stay on course, while you are waiting for NHS services. Separate to this but similar, our UBHeard helpline has been improved to provide access to free emotional support 24 hours a day all year round, with counselling available in 20 different languages.

We've also expanded our Time to Talk? campaign to ensure you know where to access our range of free and confidential services to support you. There are also Wellbeing Officers in every school, who know your subject and can give general advice and support.

For more information on actions taken based on your feedback, you can refer to our student surveys pages to understand the impact you can have by completing a survey.
