Say hello to your University Campus Police Officer

Wondering who to talk to about safety concerns on campus? 

Meet PC Matt Shakespeare your dedicated University Campus Police Officer here at UoB, proudly working with West Midlands Police.

With over 27 years of policing experience Matt’s here to keep our campus safe and supported. He works closely with the University’s Security and Community Safety teams and is involved in everything from handling serious incidents to sharing crime updates and working with local partners.

But he’s not just here for the big stuff—Matt’s also happy to have a quick chat if you’ve got a question or concern. He’s friendly, approachable, and part of the campus community and always around to help. He’s easily identifiable in his police uniform so do say hello if you see him around campus!
