The Birmingham Award: Showcase your skills and gain recognition

Enhance your personal and professional development while you study with The Birmingham Award – the University of Birmingham’s free employability skills award.

Endorsed by leading graduate employers, the award helps you develop and recognise the skills gained through extra-curricular activities and learn how to articulate them effectively in real-world recruitment processes.

With over 200 recognised activities both on and off campus – including part-time work, volunteering, fundraising, sports, content creation, caring responsibilities, and society committee roles – the award is a great way to gain recognition for everything you do outside your studies.

The online award is completely flexible so you can shape it around you.

There are three types of the award available:

• The Birmingham Award
• The Birmingham Award with Distinction – Undergraduate
• The Birmingham Award with Distinction – Postgraduate

Learn more about The Birmingham Award:

• You need to complete four activities on MyAttributes to gain the award.
• The Birmingham Award is available to all University of Birmingham students (including Dubai campus).
• You can start your award anytime. Please visit The Birmingham Award website for full instructions on how to complete it.

Updating your activities:

• You can view your existing activities on The Birmingham Award Activity Database.
• To request changes to existing activities, simply email us at thebirminghamaward@contacts.bham.ac.uk with the details and we will make the changes.
• To add new activities, please complete the Activity Recognition Form. There is no deadline for this as this form will be open throughout the year.
