At UoB, your voice shapes everything we do. Every year, you share your experiences and make your voice heard through our student surveys — and we take that seriously. From wellbeing support to travel costs and academic resources, your feedback helps us improve life on and off campus.
Here’s how your ideas make a difference:
Greater access to advice and support
You told us you wanted easier access to advice and support around finance, wellbeing and everyday living.
- We’ve enhanced UBHeard, our emotional support helpline, with a range of new features.
- If English isn’t your first language, counsellors can now use qualified interpreters to offer support in over 200 languages.
- UBHeard now includes financial and money matters advice, alongside wellbeing and lifestyle guidance.
Expanding the Pause wellbeing service
You told us you value the Pause wellbeing service and wanted extended access. We listened.
- Pause now runs four days a week during term time at the Wellbeing Lodge by the North Gate.
- It’s now open to everyone, not just those aged 18–25.
- Drop in any time for friendly advice and emotional support.
Supporting travel costs
You asked us to continue helping with transport costs — and we’re doing just that.
- The free four-week bus pass returned for another year this Welcome
- Available to all new undergraduate and postgraduate students, it covers the nBus network.
- Returning students can benefit from the University’s discounted bus scheme.
We want your journey to campus to be as smooth and affordable as possible.
More resources for exam and revision support
You said access to past papers and example questions helps you prepare with confidence.
- Schools are now providing access to past papers or sample questions for revision.
- Modules will include dedicated revision classes ahead of assessments.
- We’re also increasing the availability of example exam solutions and feedback on past paper attempts.

Enhancing the Summer Term programme
You loved our Summer Term programme and asked for even more academic and professional development opportunities.
- We’ve expanded activities that build the skills and attributes employers value most.
- Local academic transition events will help you prepare for the next stage of your studies.
- You can now access even more employer events, mentoring, training and volunteering opportunities.
Strengthening career connections
You told us you wanted more opportunities to connect with employers through Careers Network.
- We’ve introduced daily drop-ins at Careers Corner in the Main Library, plus 1:1 guidance sessions and tailored digital pathways.
- Our Digital Hub via Careers Connect is available 24/7 to all students and graduates globally.
- We’ve increased the number of employer events and professional skills workshops.
