Busting Careers Network myths

Graduating this year?

I only need to think about using this service when I’m in final year or once I graduate don’t I?

It’s never too early to start thinking about your career path, in fact the earlier you start the better. We know everybody’s at a different stage and Careers Network can help you take that first step to understand your value and what you have to offer.

I’m not sure what I want to do, so there’s no point in using the service right?

They’re here to help you get to where you want to be and will give you the tools and confidence to take on any challenge. They don’t just help you with job hunting, they’re here to upskill you through activities such as the Personal Skills Award (PSA), the Impact Challenge and the Birmingham Project to name a few. The services provided by Careers Network are about personal development as much as securing your dream role.

But what if I don’t want to do something related to my degree, can I still use Careers Network?

Careers Network understands that not all career journeys are straightforward and that’s ok. They can have a chat with you, go through the transferable skills you have got through your course/degree and advise you on your options.

Over 96% of our students who gave us their feedback highly rate the service and we’d love you to discover this for yourself. Don’t they just check CV’s though?

Yes, they do. But they also do so much more than that, providing you with the advice, support and skills to get you where you want to be.
