Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Do I really need to attend?

In short, yes. The Summer Term and UoB Xtra is designed to help you build and strengthen your skills for the years ahead through timetabled sessions led by your lecturers. Alongside this, the programme offers a range of events and opportunities where you can socialise, unwind after a busy year and connect with others, but also boost your CV by taking part in accredited courses and training.

Is UoB Xtra just fun things?

It’s really fun but it’s more than that! You’ll also get to develop and refine your skills and make the transition to next year easier or get the best out of UoB before you graduate. So, while there’s plenty of fun to be had, there are also meaningful opportunities for personal and professional growth.

When is it?

From Monday 8 – Friday 26 June 2026.

How can I book?

Book events via the dedicated ‘What’s on at UoB Xtra’ page. Please note, some events don’t require you to sign up – just drop in as and when you like!

How can I keep updated on what’s on?

We’ll be posting live on our socials, mainly @unibirmingham on IG. You’ll also hear through emails, the Brum Bulletin, on the MyUoB app, news and so on. Keep an eye out…

Is the Campus 3k back?

Yes! And it’s bigger than ever. Join us on Wednesday 10 June where you can walk, run, push, skip, dress up, or just enjoy being outdoors – it’s 3K your way, with no pressure to finish quickly.

The route starts and finishes on the Green Heart and it’s free to join as a student. Sign up for the 3k

That’s not all! There will also be a Paddle 3k! The meeting point for these sessions will be in the Green Heart, where you’ll then guided to the canoes on the canal.
