Cycling Skills Classes for Students
Planning to ride your bike in the new academic year? Get ready for the roads by joining a cycling skills class or two this autumn. They will run on Wednesday afternoons:
Basic Bike Skills Wednesday 28 September, 1-3pm
Everyday Bike Skill Wednesdays 5 & 12 October, 1-3pm (attend both)
Advanced Bike Skills Wednesday 19 October, 1-3pm
There are three levels and participants can choose the right one for them. The basic class is for cyclists who can pedal and glide, but want to learn signaling, optimal braking and how to get the best of gears. There’s an everyday class that covers how to ride on local roads and simple junctions. The advanced class is for learning to use more complex road layouts in busier traffic.
These classes are also running before the start of term: Basic Bike Skills: Weds 14 Sept, 4.30-6.30pm; Everyday Bike Skills: Weds 21 Sept and Weds 28 Sept, 4.30-6.30pm (attend both) and Advanced Skills: Weds 5 Oct, 4.00-6.00pm.
You can book on to these sessions by emailing Edward Shelley at sustainabletravel@contacts.bham.ac.uk (copy and paste in your email address if link does not work). There is a booking fee of £4 for staff and £2 for students per date attended. You can borrow a bike if you do not have one of your own. Hi-viz and helmets also provided.
