Canvas

Canvas is the University’s virtual learning environment (VLE) and comprises a range of applications that can be used to facilitate learning, teaching, and assessment.

System Access

Canvas can be accessed directly via the main UoB canvas page.  There is also a Canvas Admin site, which provides access to administration functions for Canvas teachers.

Canvas Champions

Each School and the College Education Support Team, have their own Canvas Champion(s).  The Canvas Champion should be your first point of contact for any simple queries, particularly relating to Canvas Administration.

More complex questions should be directed to the EPS Digital Education Team (contact details are further down this page).

PebblePad

Integrated with Canvas, PebblePad is the University of Birmingham’s Portfolio tool. PebblePad is a flexible personal learning space that is available to both students and staff at the University. It is a reflective tool that personalises the student learning experience, connecting different pieces of life at the University of Birmingham and encouraging lifelong learning. When a student finishes their studies, they can take their reflections and portfolio with them by converting to an Alumni account.

PebblePad can be used for variety of different learner experiences. For example, the learning outcomes for a module, it also supports creative blogs and career or personal portfolios.

A: Support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from Canvas directly.
