Dr Ian Batten
Head of Quality for the School of Computer Science.

For twenty years Ian was variously a developer, systems administrator and manager in Telecoms, ending up in the role of Head of Information Assurance.

But now, having completed a PhD in computer security, Ian is a lecturer at the University of Birmingham, teaching both undergraduates and postgraduates about security and networking. As he says, he is now much to the surprise of everyone who has ever worked with him, attempting to bring some of the benefits of ISO9000 quality management systems to the groves of academe in his new role as Head of Quality for the School of Computer Science.
