The Quick Colleague Catch-up - Simon Adderley
Each month we catch-up with a different colleague from within Birmingham Business School to ask them 10 questions; five related to their job and life at the Business School, the other five quizzing them about their interests, memories and hobbies.
Simon Adderley, Research Fellow
Simon has joined Birmingham Business School from the University of Chester where he ran the Centre for Labour Market Development. He is particularly interested in research which has practical implications and has undertaken impact reviews for large blue chip companies such as Bank of America as well as for local authorities and for voluntary sector organisations. He lives with his partner, Feline and has three children (14, 5 years and 11 weeks) and is constantly learning but never quite getting German.
What I do… Research Fellow with a focus on delivering engaged research with public and private sector bodies
Best thing about working at Birmingham Business School… So far it’s the people. I am genuinely yet to meet anyone who is anything less than lovely
Favourite thing or place on campus… The clock tower. There’s something about seeing that when I wander down from the train station that is very uplifting and has real gravitas
If I were to start a lunchtime club… Something very sad – board games – long strategic ones which never end
In my spare time… I support Stoke City but that’s full time
Proudest moment or achievement… Green braid
Favourite book or current read… Wind in the Willows is the perfect book
If I could only ever watch three films ever again, they would be… Philadelphia Story, His Girl Friday and Charade (I’m a bit of a Cary Grant fan)
Earliest memory… erm…. Nah it’s gone
Interesting things about me… I once shared a jacuzzi with Sachin Tendulkar
