Birmingham tunnel closures 19 July-2 September

Birmingham summer tunnel closures - major roadworks 19 July-2 September

The tunnels that route through Birmingham city centre are to be closed for six weeks over the summer period for essential refurbishment. The St Chad’s and Queensway tunnels will be closed to all traffic from 19 July to 2 September 2013. The closure will be followed by up to two weeks of overnight closures from 10pm to 6am.

A website www.brumtunnels.co.uk has been launched to help commuters plan their journeys to minimise disruption during the closure period. The site provides an overview of works, plus advice on suggested alternative routes and transport.

It is recommended that staff, students and visitors to the University consider alternative modes of travel during the six week closure period, with train, bus and cycling information available on the University's sustainable travel pages at https://intranet.birmingham.ac.uk/has/sustainable-travel/index.aspx.
