Car parking update: new multi-storey car park
As part of the ongoing developments to campus a number of changes have been made to car parking, which take effect from 9pm on Friday 7 February. These changes are summarised below:
South Car Park
The South Car Park will close permanently at 9pm on Friday 7 February 2014 as work begins on the new Sports Centre.
NEW: North East Car Park
This new multi-storey car park, located next to 52 Pritchatts Road, will open at 6am on Monday 10 February 2014. North East Car Park will operate using Automatic Number Plate Recognition, meaning that users will pay on exit rather than pay and display. Staff who hold a blue or purple permit will be able to park here and swipe on exit. All other users of this car park will need to pay the daily rates or use an alternative car park as there is no facility to pay the £1 tariff. Visitors issued with a University permit/hanger are not permitted to park in the North East Car Park and should be directed to main campus, North Car Park, or Pritchatts Road Car Park.
North Car Park
North Car Park will be pay and display only, at a rate of £1 per day for staff with a valid parking permit or visitors at the staged charge rates. There will no longer be the facility for staff to pay for parking at this car park via swipe cards for salary deduction.
Pritchatts Road Car Park
This car park will continue to be accessible for pay and display only, at a rate of £1 per day for staff with a valid parking permit or visitors at the staged charge rates.
Staff who prefer to pay for their parking charges via salary deduction will need to park on Main Campus or in the North East Car Park. Staff who would like to sign up for the salary deduction scheme should contact firstname.lastname@example.org, call 0121 414 2623, or visit https://intranet.birmingham.ac.uk/car-parking to complete a Staff Application Form. Please be advised that staff who are already registered for salary deduction do not need to reapply and will automatically have access to North East Car Park.
