Volunteers wanted for ulcerative colitis novel transplant research

Volunteers are wanted for a novel transplant research at the University of Birmingham. As part of an NIHR-funded study, a team from the University of Birmingham and University Hospitals Birmingham is looking for possible donors for a study aiming to assess a new treatment for ulcerative colitis. The study will involve the transplant of healthy bowel flora from a donor to a patient - this transplant takes place as stool transplantation. The donor screening process will commence in the next few weeks, so please let us know as soon as possible if you are interested in taking part.  To be eligible you must be aged between 18 and 50 and not be working in a healthcare environment. If eligible, each donor is expected to donate for 10 days and will be reimbursed for their time and efforts.

If you are interested in finding out more and possibly donating for this important research, then please contact Mrs Shrushma Loi, Senior Trial Co-ordinator at the Birmingham Clinical Trials Unit, STOP-Colitis@trials.bham.ac.uk  or 0121 414 2779.
