Did you know we use 885,840 takeaway cups at the University each year? That’s enough cups to reach the top of Old Joe over 900 times!

100,000,000,000 cups are sent to landfill each year in the UK because takeaway cups are made from a combination of card and plastic which is difficult to recycle.

But you can help make a difference by using the University of Birmingham’s new Eco To Go cups. The reusable coffee cups are made from rice husks which are biodegradable; plus they are microwavable and dishwasher safe.

When you buy your cup you’ll receive your first drink for free and you’ll save the extra 10p cost for a disposable cup every time you use it.
