British Transplant Games on Campus: Thursday 2 to Sunday 5 August

The 41st edition of the British Transplant Games will be held at venues across Birmingham between 2nd and 5th August, with the majority of the activity taking place in new facilities on campus. All athletes taking part have received a transplant, and this is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the life-changing impact of such a procedure – many of which are carried out in Birmingham each year.

There will be opportunities to get involved, either through spectating on campus, or even joining a 3k or 5k fun run on Saturday 4th August, which is open to all.

Naturally, there will be an impact on campus for those days, with a record 1060 transplanted competitors signed up. Campus will be a little busier than usual. Specifically:

  • Bournbrook car park (next to the hockey pitches) will be closed from 1st to 5th August inclusive to make way for the athletes’ hospitality area.
  • The ground floor and levels 1-3 in the North East Car Park will be reserved for the duration of the Games, for use by the participants.
  • There will be a short road closure between the Vale and campus (Edgbaston Park Road, from the Vale traffic lights to the Bristol Road junction) for the 3k and 5k runs on the evening of Saturday 4th August.
