Free NHSBT health checks for staff
When was the last time you had your blood pressure and blood sugar levels checked? Come along to Staff House on Tuesday 25 June, 11.00am-3.00pm, to find out your numbers!
Blood pressure is the term used to describe the strength with which your blood pushes on the sides of your arteries as it's pumped around your body; high blood pressure (hypertension) can put a strain on your arteries and organs, which can increase your risk of developing serious problems such as heart attacks and strokes.
Knowing your blood sugar levels is also important, as we all need sugar in our blood to provide cells with energy. A high blood sugar level would mean you either have diabetes or have a high risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
Courtesy of the Global Kidney Foundation in partnership with NHS Blood and Transplant, trained nurses will be coming on to campus to deliver free health checks and explain the importance of organ donation.
Every day thousands of people’s lives are saved or improved thanks to the generosity of donors. As the UK's first Donor Campus, we hope that you will take up this opportunity to find out more about organ donation while also enjoying a free health check.
