Key Dates

Due to the current restricted campus operations we are hosting regular online events which give prospective students the opportunity to chat with staff from the international recruitment team about courses, entry requirements, funding, schoalrships, accomodation and student life at the Unviersity of Birmingham.

Course deadlines

For undergraduate programmes the University follows the key dates from UCAS.

For postgraduate programmes, applications open on the 1st October and the deadline depends on the volume of applications received. Please check the relevant course pages for the latest updates.

The deadline for accepting offers will be clearly communciated on teh offer letter.

Accomodation deadlines 

Applicants should apply for accomodation once they have recieved an offer of a place to study here and before 31st July to be guranteed a place.

International clearing is on the 31st July every year.

Please note some courses run to different term dates to those advertised above. Please check all communications from your School or Department or contact them to confirm specific term dates.

In 2020-21 the University will be introducing a new academic teaching year framework. The new structure will have two semesters; each will include 11 weeks of learning and teaching, a period of assessment and support, and an end of semester assessment period.

Please note that if necessary, the end of semester assessment periods may include Saturday examinations so, for example, there may be examinations held on Saturday 9 January 2021, Saturday 16 January 2021 and Saturday 23 January 2021.

¹ UoBe Festival will fall between the end of Semester 1 and the beginning of Semester 2 in the new academic teaching year framework. UoBe Festival aims to provide students with the space and time within the academic year to participate in a wide range of exciting and unique opportunities that personally interest them at that particular point in their lives.
