Wellbeing Wednesday – 22 October

In this week’s Wellbeing Wednesday, we’re focusing on safety and security on campus:

  • Community Safety Team
  • Campus Security Services
  • SafeZone app
  • Selly Express Shuttle
  • Avoiding online scams

Community Safety Team

Your Community Safety Team is here to support you on campus through patrols, follow-ups, and drop-ins at the Safety Hub. They offer advice, safety resources, and crime prevention support. They also work in partnership with the West Midlands Police, and campus even has its very own police officer for added reassurance. Meet the team.

Campus Security Services

University Security Services offer 24/7 support and advice year-round. They provide first aid, respond to suspicious activity, and assist if you feel unsafe. Make sure you know what to do in an emergency on campus. Find support.

SafeZone App

Have you downloaded the SafeZone app? It connects you to campus security or first responders for quick assistance. Off-campus, it uses your GPS location and prompts you to call 999 in an emergency. Stay safe with instant support wherever you are. Download the app.

Selly Express Shuttle

Walking from campus to Selly Oak? Don’t forget, the free Selly Express shuttle bus runs Monday - Friday evenings from campus to Selly Oak. Show your student ID (no ticket needed) and tell the driver your drop-off spot. Get all the info.

Avoiding online scams

Online scams, like phishing emails and fake websites, trick people into sharing personal info or money. Always verify sources, avoid suspicious links, and never share passwords or financial details. Check out these tips to protect yourself online.

If you have any concerns regarding the legitimacy of any emails related to your tuition fees, please contact the University Finance Team.
