Important updates to our UBHeard service

From Monday 31 March 2025, the telephone numbers and portal link for UBHeard, our free confidential listening and support service for all students, will be changing.

If you’re in the UK, access the free UBHeard service by calling the 24/7 confidential helpline on 0800 917 9379 (Freephone UK*) to speak to a trained counsellor.

*some phone providers do charge for freephone numbers so please check with your service provider.

You can also download the free Wisdom App from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android) for a range of features including contacting a dedicated wellbeing counsellor using live messaging and video calls. This is ideal for UoB students not in the UK and replaces the international number. Wherever you are in the world, this makes accessing the service easier and more accessible.

How to log into the Wisdom App and online portal

  • Download the app or log in using this link
  • Enter the UoB unique code: MHA323213 (only required on initial sign-up)
  • You’ll then need to set up a profile adding in your details such as name, date of birth and a contact number.
  • The icon in the top righthand side can be used for accessibility requirements and if you’d like to change the default language.

In the meantime, if you need to speak to someone, don’t worry. You can still reach out using the existing numbers and links on the UBHeard and Time to Talk? intranet pages. You’ll also find the new contact details on those pages.

Please note that some copies of the ‘Your Guide to Student Support’ booklet will have the old numbers, so use the above intranet pages to double check you have the most up-to-date information.

Improvements to UBHeard

Through our UBHeard service, you’ll be able to speak to a trained counsellor who will guide you through any issues you may currently be facing – at University or at home. And following student feedback, if English isn’t your first language, the service now offers a translation service. Counsellors use qualified interpreters to give advice and support in over 200 languages.

As well as access to mental health and counselling, you’ll also now be able to access a legal, financial and medical support helpline (from 9am-9pm) through the 0800 917 9379 number. The Wisdom app also offers programmes on wellbeing topics such as eating healthier, sleeping well, stopping smoking and much more to help you improve your mental health and track your wellness.
