Finding medical/healthcare work placements & volunteering opportunities

The following are a list of useful links for medical and dental students to try and obtain work experience.

Medical work experience

• University Hospital Birmingham – the trust has merged with 4 other hospitals, including Solihull, Heartlands and Goodhope. Work experience is centrally managed for all of these hospitals.
• Birmingham Children’s & Women’s Hospital – a range of work experience, internships, volunteering and mentoring opportunities in clinical and non-clinical areas. 
• Bespoke Work Experience for Years 1-3 MBChB students only, placements available with the Neurology and Liver Dept. at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Please note these are extremely limited. E-mail your request to Paula Cassidy at pcassidy1@nhs.net.

Headway (Brain Injury Support) Volunteering - Based on-site at Moseley Hall Hospital, Birmingham, Headway are a brain  injury rehabilitation, care and support centre, offering volunteering placements either at their on-site at their day centre or off-site carer services.
