The Mindful Academic

Location
Westmere PGR Hub
Dates
Friday 31 January 2020 (12:30-14:00)

Are you looking for a more balanced and unrushed approach to academic life? This workshop outlines how mindfulness can help. Attendees will be introduced to formal meditation practices as well as informal techniques for building mindfulness into everyday life. Explore how mindfulness can help you to: reduce stress, take proper breaks, and bring mental clarity and focus to your work – stimulating creative thought and allowing for more efficient use of your time.

This workshop is led by Dr Michael Roberts. Michael is founder of The Mindfulness Tree, which offers drop-in sessions, courses and workshops to organisations and the general public. He trained to teach under the supervision of Suryacitta Malcolm Smith and completed a PhD in Philosophy at the University of Birmingham (2014-2019) conducting research on Buddhist meditation and introspection in cognitive science.
