Check availability on the web
Before placing your order on the technical services web page check it's availability and minimum quantities for each item.
It is quite common for students to order 3 resistors when the company only sells them in multiples of 100...
To check an order place a dummy order on the appropriate companies web site, i.e. go through all the motions as if you are placing an order but stop at the point where they ask for order number or credit card details.
When using the OneCall or Maplin sites you do not need a password to do this.
When using the R.S. website use the username undergrad and password student (both lower case)
Rapid does not have online ordering.
The prices shown are the discounted prices before V.A.T. therefore enter these on your technical support page web order
V.A.T.
Please enter your prices on the web page Exclusive of V.A.T. (This is normally the price shown in the catalogue). We will calculate the V.A.T. where appropriate.
Farnell C.P.C.
Farnell + C.P.C. are our main suppliers and we purchase via their joint purchasing consortium 'OneCall'
We receive a 14% discount on C.P.C. orders and 12% on Farnell prices. Wherever possible please order from Farnell/CPC and enter the discounted price in the cost box.
Rapid Electronics
Rapid Electronics always charge us last column prices , for example if you were buying one tube of the lubricant below you only need to pay £3.93.
This can result in considerable cost savings. Always use the last column price on the External orders web page.

None preferred suppliers
When purchasing from suppliers that are not shown on the drop down box on the order page please give full details - especially their WEB address.
The majority of our orders are placed using a corporate Credit card (VISA) - if the supplier does not accept this we may have to raise a cheque for payment from University Finance, this can take several weeks and will therefore delay your order.
All of our preferred suppliers, with the exception of Amazon books, do not charge post and package but be aware that other suppliers may do so and although you do not need to indicate post and package on the ordering page be aware that this may increase the item cost considerably
Small Orders
Occasionally yours may be the only order to a particular company that week, if the value of the order is less than £10 we will not place an order. If possible we will attempt to find an alternative with a company that we are ordering from, this may mean an increase in price for your item - generally this does not happen with orders to Farnell/C.P.C. or RS and rarely with orders to Rapid - this is a good reason to restrict your orders to the 'big three'
International orders
Please enter the amount in the currency of the country ordered from i.e. if ordering from the USA please enter your order in Dollars $ , after which please e-mail Andy Dunn and inform him of the currency used.
Errors
Should you make an error whilst ordering please e-mail Andy Dunn as soon as possible so that the mistake may be rectified.
