We are pleased to announce that the Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) Global Education (GE) has achieved top honours at the recent AsiaOne People's Choice Awards 2013, clinching two awards – Best Private School and Hall of Fame Award.

Meet the Team: Placements Team

Description
Since the Placements Team was formed in late February, the Professional Development Module has been going from strength to strength. Now fully launched, in its first few weeks alone the module received over 100 expressions of interest from eager students across The Business School and Government and Society, wanting to find out more. The team are still waiting for final numbers as module choice form deadlines loom ever closer, but they predict that in its pilot year around 80 students will be accepted onto the module.

Meet our Staff: Dr Nicolas Lemay-Hebert

Description
Dr Nicolas Lemay-Hébert originally moved to the University of Birmingham as a Marie Curie Experienced Researcher. He is now a Senior Lecturer within the International Development Department (IDD), School of Government and Society and is researching the economic impact of the international presence in Haiti and local narratives of resistance to international interventions.We met with the music enthusiast, who is originally from Montreal, Canada, to find out more about his past, his research and who Nicolas is outside of work.

The Conversation UK

Birmingham is one of 13 UK universities who have signed up to be founding partners of The Conversation UK - an open access news and commentary website produced by academics and journalists. The University is committed to supporting the initial 6 month pilot phase which launched on 16th May.
