New to the Business School - Agnieszka Chidlow
I have joined the Strategy and International Business Group as a Lecturer in International Business. Priori my appointment here, at Birmingham Business School, I worked at Manchester Metropolitan University, Kings’ College London, The University of Manchester, London School of Economics and Staffordshire University. I have also been a visiting research scholar at several US and European Universities, for example, New York University Stern School of Business, The University of Michigan, Wayne State University and Uppsala University.
I have a PhD in International Business and I am research active. My interests lie in the area of the internationalization of firms and methodological issues of international business research. More specifically, these include: research into emerging markets, location strategies and regional development aspects of Foreign Direct Investments and multinational companies, strategic development of subsidiaries at both national and regional levels, the role of language and translation in cross-language international business research, the impact of terrorist incidents on location choices of multinational companies, qualitative methods (i.e. surveys and interviews) and quantitative methods (i.e. discrete choices models, spatial regressions).
So far, my research has received strong recognition in the form of several awards for scientific merit, funding from research councils (e.g. The British Academy, Regional Studies Association) and publications in leading international journals (e.g. Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of World Business, International Business Review).
I always seek opportunities to collaborate both nationally and internationally with partners to co-create work within my research areas that has significant value, it is intellectually stimulating, mutually rewarding and has impact on the communities of practice engaged in research. I am very excited to be here at Birmingham Business School.
