Graduate Trainee Scheme: success strikes twice

By Louise Rudge

Following a rigorous process, for the second year running BBS has been successful in their bid for a Graduate Trainee to undertake a placement in the School.

We are pleased to announce that Laura Forrest will join the Accreditations and Rankings, Quality Assurance & Enhancement Team for a 12-month period from 1 September 2015.

For those of you unfamiliar with the Graduate Trainee Scheme, it centres on the recruitment of recent high-calibre UoB graduates to undertake placements in Professional Services; three 4-month placements in year one and one 12-month placement in year two. Employed at a grade 6, with a view to moving quickly into senior positions within Professional Services on completion, placements are designed to be challenging; the 12-month placement in particular enabling trainees to build on skills developed in year one.

During her placement with BBS, Laura will primarily assist with:

  • Embedding operational practices across BBS which proactively support crucial accreditation responsibilities.
  • Project managing the March 2016 EQUIS visit.
  • Assisting with other BBS-wide Quality Assurance matters, such as the forthcoming VC Review of BBS and AACSB continuous improvement plans.

In doing this, Laura will work not only with BBS Professional Services and Faculty staff, but also Professional Services staff in other Schools/Colleges and Corporate Services to share expertise, in addition to liaising with other Business Schools to identify best practice operations.

Laura will introduce herself in a future BBS newsletter; at which point a more detailed indication of her placement activities will also be provided. Laura will then provide regular newsletter updates regarding her progress and activities as her placement continues.

We hope you will join us in welcoming Laura to the School in September.
