Meet Laura Forrest, Graduate Trainee at the University of Birmingham
As part of the Graduate Management Training Scheme I will be spending the next year with the Quality Assurance, Enhancement and Accreditations Team. I am a UoB Sport and Exercise Science graduate and started the Scheme in September 2014, and since then I have worked in Legal Services, the CAL Student Experience Team and the Registrar and Secretary’s Office.
My role will involve undertaking an audit of the information required by our triple crown accreditors, (focussing mainly on Quality Assurance, Programmes and Research), and identifying ways in which we can collect this information more proactively and efficiently. Then, towards the end of the academic year, I will be working with colleagues across the School to implement some of these identified process improvements. I am also managing the logistics for the EQUIS re-accreditation visit in March next year, as well as assisting with other activities undertaken by the team. Alongside my role in Business School I am the Project Manager for the 2016 BUAFTAs, so I am sure I will have a busy year!
Outside of the office I am usually out and about either white water kayaking or bouldering, so I seem to spend all of my weekends in various rainy but beautiful parts of the UK! I am looking forward to learning about a new area of the University and having the opportunity to work in a department through a whole academic cycle, and I will hopefully get the chance to meet lots of you over the coming year.
