Going the extra mile in March

Following a short hiatus the CoSS ‘Going the Extra Mile’ (GEM) awards are back!

For colleagues not familiar with the scheme, the GEM awards recognise Professional Services staff within the College who ‘do an excellent job’, ‘frequently exceed expectations in helping to deliver the ambitions of the College’ and ‘go the extra mile’. Both Faculty and Professional Services staff can nominate their Professional Services colleagues; please email the College’s Director of Operations, Lorraine Gaytten (L.Gaytten@bham.ac.uk) with the name and job title of the nominee and a short explanation for why the member of staff should receive an Award.

A hearty ‘congratulations’ to the following Business School colleagues who each received a GEM in March 2016 -

Claire Smith (MBA Programmes Manager);

Sandra McCalla (School Hub Manager and PA to the Dean);

Margaret Jelleyman (Accreditations and Rankings Manager);

Laura Forrest (Quality and Continuous Improvement Project Officer), and;

Liz McGivern (Quality Assurance and Management Information Officer).

Sandra, Margaret, Laura and Liz have each been nominated in recognition of the exceptional contribution they made in overseeing logistical arrangements for the submission of the 250+ page Self-Assessment Report for the EQUIS Panel visit and management of the associated visit by the EQUIS Peer Review Team.

Claire received her nomination in recognition of the exceptional contribution she made in providing outstanding support to the MBA Team regarding the collation of module paperwork for the new ‘One MBA’ programme.

Full details will be available on the CoSS intranet pages shortly.

Nominees each receive a letter from Lorraine, as well as being entered into a prize draw for a £25 High Street voucher. The draw winner for March was the Business School’s Sandra McCalla – congratulations to Sandra!
