Creative Media's Media Centre has been involved in a number of award-winning projects throughout November 2012.

The month began when a film produced for Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Trust services won silver at the CIPR (Chartered Institute for Public Relations) Awards. This was followed by a BUAFTA nomination for a student recruitment film produced for ComputerScience featuring Nao the dancing robot! It’s called ‘Let’s Dance Right Nao’ and can be viewed on YouTube atwww.youtube.com/watch?v=fd5_fmmMDo0.

The month ended with two prestigious awards for a comedy drama entitled ‘Titanic Love’ produced by Macoy Media. ‘Titanic Love’ won best short feature film at the Black International Film Festival at the ICC in Birmingham and also won the best screenplay award at the Los Angeles Comedy Film Festival. The Media Centre supported the production with equipment and staff, who worked in their own time at weekends. The University was fully credited on the film which has now been screened in Hollywood!

In December and January the Media Centre will also be delivering a series of films produced by Marketing and Communications and other University departments, including nine films entitled ‘My Bham’; six ‘Full Circle’ films featuring distinguished academic interviews; ten Cultural Collections films; ‘Brum Dine with Me’, ‘Heroes’ and ’UGP’ films; a student recruitment film for the English Department and International Development Department; and a marketing film for Alta Innovations. In addition to the recruitment films, the Media Centre has also produced a series of training films for the School of Medical and Dental Sciences, films covering personal security for students and a teenage education film for Coeliac UK and the Psychology Department, and there are plenty of exciting projects in the pipeline for 2013.
