The University of Birmingham named as Higher Education social entrepreneurship partner

Social entrepreneurship is a rapidly growing movement within the HE sector and the University of Birmingham has been chosen as a pioneering partner for the UnLtd and HEFCE HE Support Initiative. Over the next twelve months, The University will work with UnLtd to develop a support structure which will give staff and students the chance to start up a social venture. This will be a joint collaboration between the Entrepreneurship and Innovation (part of Careers and Employability) and the Business Engagement Team (formerly the Commercial Development arm of Research and Commercial Services)

The University of Birmingham is one of 54 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in England to partner with UnLtd on this initiative to embed a culture of social entrepreneurship within their institution and across the Higher Education sector. The final list of all selected HEI partners can be viewed at www.unltd.org.uk/hesupport.

If you’re a member of staff interested in social enterprise, find out how you, or your students could benefit from this initiative. Contact: Catherine Mansell at c.mansell@bham.ac.uk.
