Rail Network Improvement works July and August 2014

In the summer 2014, Network Rail will be carrying out a major improvement scheme on the rail network between Redditch and Barnt Green. These changes will allow the running of three trains per hour to Barnt Green, Alvechurch and Redditch from December 2014, instead of the current two. Alvechurch station will also be transformed, with an additional platform, new footbridge, waiting shelter, CCTV and lifts - providing improved access for all. This is a huge programme of work, which means the rail network will close between Redditch and Barnt Green while the improvement works are carried out. The closure will take place for a full eight weeks from Sunday 6 July to Sunday 31 August. The works only affect the stretch of railway between Barnt Green and Redditch, so there will be rail replacement buses available.
