Support Staff Annual leave update
As staff will be aware through previous communications, changes to booking annual leave for Support Staff will go live on 1 January 2023. With effect from this date, Support Staff will be able to book their leave through Core Systems.
There are some helpful frequently asked questions and guidance on canvas about how to book leave, view balances and approve leave (for managers). These are also available as pdf documents – if you are unable to print these, please speak to your manager or HR Team who will provide you with a paper copy.
As an employee’s total annual leave allowance for the year will now be inclusive of entitlement to bank holidays and closed days, these hours will need to be booked off in Core. For 2023 (1 January 2023 – 31 December 2023), the bank holidays and closed days are:
- Monday 2 January 2023
- Friday 7 April 2023
- Monday 10 April -Wednesday 12 April 2023
- Monday 1 May 2023
- Monday 29 May 2023
- Monday 28 August 2023
- Thursday 21 December – Friday 22 December 2023
- Monday 25 December – Friday 29 December 2023
If you are contracted to work bank holidays and closed days, you should only book off the bank holidays and closed days you are not rostered to work. Further information can be found in the FAQs.
For staff on part year contracts, whose leave is taken on the weeks they do not work, you are not required to book annual leave.
We understand that there are some members of staff who do not have regular access to IT at work. Staff can use their personal computer, tablet or smart phone to access the necessary pages. More detail on this is in the relevant FAQ.
If you have any queries about annual leave, HR Advisory Services will be running a drop-in session for staff and managers on Tuesday 13 December at 9:00 in the Central Staff Hub.
We will also be running drop-in sessions in January with the support of IT services. Details of these sessions will be cascaded shortly.
If you have any immediate queries about booking annual leave on Core, please contact your local HR team via the HR Portal using the category “Annual Leave Query”.
