Water Main Work by Severn Trent
Severn Trent Water are carrying out work on a water main that may affect staff travelling to campus over the coming few weeks. The work will be:
- Installing a new water main connection for a development in your area
- We’ll be working under lane closures and traffic lights
- We plan to start from 20 September 2022 and take approximately 10 weeks to complete.
Why this work is being done
It is to install a new water main connection for a development in the area by connecting onto the existing water main in Harborne Lane, Birmingham.
Important things to know
The work is planned to carry out in two phases.
In the first phase, the new water main will be laid in the footpath outside property number 180 Harborne Lane and continue in the footpath onto Aston Webb Boulevard for 290 metres.
In the second phase, the new water main will be laid across the carriageway in Aston Webb Boulevard and continue along the footpath and into the entrance of the development site.
To allow us to carry out this work quickly and safely in the first phase of the scheme, we will have lane closures in place, we will also need to close the footpath and cycle lane in the working area. In the second phase of the scheme, we will also have a lane and cycle lane closure with two-way traffic lights in place. This is to ensure your safety and the safety of our workforce. You may wish to allow for extra time for your journey. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. The plan and table overleaf show the approximate location, timescale and traffic management.
We plan to start work from 20 September 2022 and take approximately 10 weeks to completed.
